Both artists, Lauren Pelc-McArthur and Derek Simmers, moved to Yellowknife a few years ago and share a similar use of abstraction to reflect the world around them. Pelc-McArthur and Simmers apply colour, value and shape to create a rhythm on canvas. Their works leave interpretation up to the viewer but feature subject matter like personal living rooms or vegetables. This exhibition and custom mural is the first collaboration between Pelc-McArthur and Simmers.
We acknowledge and respect that we are in the Chief Drygeese territory. From time immemorial, it has been the traditional land of the Yellowknives Dene First Nation.
