Carapace, curated by Jonah Cutler, is an exhibition of new and recent works by Magdalena Pawlowski (Connecticut) and Megan Feniak (Alberta). Drawing from folk-art techniques and craft, the artists each bring mystery and folkloric sensibility to their work. The works in the exhibition are subtle and oblique; there is a strong sense of interiority, from Pawlowski’s tightly drawn detailed patterns that encompass her subjects, to Feniak’s suggestions of bodily edges in her sculptures.
We acknowledge and respect that we live and work in Chief Drygeese territory. From time immemorial, it has been the traditional land of the Yellowknives Dene First Nation.
